The Museum of Glass is perhaps the most famous of Tacoma museum landmarks. This pedestrian walkway is home to hundreds of pieces made by legendary glass artist Dale Chihuly and his apprentices.

Want some nature without the rain? The W.W. Seymour Conservatory offers just that, with a stunning array of plants from all over the world housed in a beautiful greenhouse setting. And if the weather isn’t too bad, the Conservatory is located in Wright Park, offering a great place for a quick stroll in a beautiful area.
Best of all, the Conservatory is completely free to enter and explore. There is a small gift shop, and you can also rent the space out for weddings and special occasions.

Just a short drive from Tacoma is the iconic Chamber’s Bay Golf Course and community park. The course itself is absolutely stunning, and was home to the 2015 U.S. Open tournament. The park itself has a loop trail through the course, which is open to the public and offers sweeping views of the inlet as well as McNeil, Anderson and Fox islands.
But just a little south of the course is the real hidden gem: the Chamber’s Creek Canyon trail area. This short trail offers true nature emersion that makes you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, and brings you down the canyon towards the water for some rewarding views.

There are few Tacoma-area views more iconic than the view of Rainer from Point Ruston. When the mountain is out, the view is simply breathtaking. And on those cloudy fall days, the Ruston waterfront still offers plenty of opportunity for dining, shopping, and entertainment.
Start (or end) at Point Ruston, a recently redeveloped area with shops, a movie theatre, restaurants, and a beautiful waterfront promenade. Visit the Waterfront Market to shop artisan goods, fresh seafood, and so much more. If the weather’s nice, take a long walk along the waterfront, venturing as far as you’d like before turning around. In total there is a 2-mile stretch of paved trails, making for up to a 4-mile roundtrip hike with waterfront views the whole time!
