If you found a dealer but they are 8 hours away, request an insured box. If they’re reputable, they will mail you an insured box that you ship them your items in. They should then give you a free, no obligation appraisal. If you decline, they ship your items back in an insured box.  There should be no compromising on this. It’s a must to make sure your gold items aren’t stolen or damaged without any compensation.
RESEARCH
After choosing a gold dealer, do some research on them. Check reviews online and go to the Better Business Bureau. The BBB will give you information on them that you can trust.
MEET FACE TO FACE
If it’s possible, going into the dealer’s shop is ideal. You can get a great impression of the kind of place it is by talking to the staff and owner. You won’t have to worry about shipping snafus or problems getting a hold of the dealer.
